Send Your Student Leaders to Girls State!
Girls State is an incredible opportunity for your students to experience leadership skill development, confidence building, and a life-changing week.
Please help us enroll students who would be interested and well suited for this exceptional leadership program. Participants in this once-in-a-lifetime experience may also be eligible to apply for a $20,000 scholarship, obtain transferable college credits for an additional fee, or compete to represent Oregon at Girls Nation, a national leadership program held in Washington DC.
If you have not yet worked with Oregon Girls State, it is a leadership and citizenship program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. It is open to girls who have just completed their junior year in high school. Young women who are selected to participate have the opportunity to cultivate their leadership skills, to develop a deep understanding of the workings of our government, to strive for and assume leadership roles, and to recognize how their involvement can make a difference in their own communities.
We hope that your student will walk away from the week with a greater appreciation of our great nation and an understanding of how she can make a difference in her school and community.
A local American Legion Auxiliary Unit may be contacting your school. If so, please work with them to complete the registration process. However, there are not active Units in all areas of the state. If you are not contacted, we would be delighted to work directly with your school to ensure that your students have the opportunity to participate in Oregon Girls State.
